چکیده

The purpose of this research was to examine paleoenvironments, hydrothermal activity, and seawater restriction the lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation shale gas reservoir in eastern Xuefeng uplift determine factors affecting organic matter (OM) enrichment. In studied borehole Xiangan 1 well western Hunan Province, can be subdivided into Niu1, Niu2, Niu3 Members based on geological geochemical features, including trace element enrichment, lithology, fossil content. Total carbon values are variable, averaging 1.5 wt. % Niu1 Member, 12.7 Niu2 5.1 Member. Paleoclimatic changes were responsible for biota, which impacted patterns OM Climate proxy (chemical index alteration) productivity proxies (biogenic Ba, Cu/Al, Ni/Al) consistently indicate higher paleoproductivity may affected by events, whereas activity absent during deposition Hydrothermal provide nutrients silica but also enhance reducing condition water column. addition, events have possibly influenced biological survival different environments, turn increased their reproduction within early ocean production. Redox (Mo U enrichment factors) imply that deposited suboxic, euxinic, ferruginous respectively. conditions, strongly restricted conducive Cambrian.

depositional environments and sequence stratigraphy of the sorkh shale formation (lower triassic) in the tabas block

the sorkh shale formation (lower triassic) crops out in parts of tabas block. this formation is composed of limestone, dolomite, sandstone, shale and gypsum. its lower contact with the permian rocks and its upper contact with the shotori formation is marked by distinct erosional unconformity. to determine the depositional environments of the sorkh shale formation, stratigraphic sections of goda...

Ichnotaxonomic analysis and depositional controls on the carbonate ramp ichnological characteristics of the Deh-Sufiyan Formation (Middle Cambrian), Central Alborz, Iran

The trace fossil assemblages from the Unit 2 of Deh-Sufiyan Formation are described for the first time from The Central Alborz Range of northern Iran,  improving the record of the assemblages in the Cambrian of the Middle East. Twenty-one ichnogenera have been identified in the Deh-Sufiyan Formation, namely Arenicolites, Bergaueria, Chondrites, Circulichnus, Cruziana, Diplichnites, Didymaulichnu...

Kinetic controls on the complexation between mercury and dissolved organic matter in a contaminated environment.

The interaction of mercury (Hg) with dissolved natural organic matter (NOM) under equilibrium conditions is the focus of many studies but the kinetic controls on Hg-NOM complexation in aquatic systems have often been overlooked. We examined the rates of Hg-NOM complexation both in a contaminated Upper East Fork Poplar Creek (UEFPC) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and in controlled laboratory experimen...

Chancelloriids of the Cambrian Burgess Shale

The cactus-like chancelloriids from the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale are revised on the basis of Walcott’s (1920) original collections and new material containing several hundred specimens collected by Royal Ontario Museum field expeditions from 1975 to 2000. Walcott’s interpretation of chancelloriids as sponges was based on a misinterpretation of the dermal coelosclerites as embedded sponge-t...
